The honest family maths for Guangzhou: Chimelong Safari is world-class and worth its ¥300–350 once. But if the question is a second family day, or a wet-season day, or a budget day, the Science Center delivers six hours of hands-on rooms for a fifth of the money, with air conditioning and no 20km of walking. Weekends bring local school crowds; weekday mornings it can feel like a private booking.
It shares Xiaoguwei Island with University Town's ten campuses, so the surrounding cycle paths and cheap student canteens are part of the outing.
